Has anyone tried out the Shure KSM27 on overheads?

I'm looking to buy some new overhead mics as my small diaphragm condensers don't give me the fatness of the kit that I'd like. As much as I'd love to buy a couple of KSM32s, they're just way out of my price range and it seemed that the KSM27s were a nice alternative.

Has anyone used the KSM27 on overheads? I've read other forums which really just go on about it being used on vocals or acoustic guitar.

What budget do you have? That particular mic has a boost around 6k, 12k and 50hz. I'd use that particular mic as a room mic instead as it would give you some extra weight slid in relatively quietly underneath.

The Studio Projects C1 is great for overhead use. it is flat up to around 6k with a peak around 13k so you'd want to have them a little higher than normal and make sure you're using the windscreens. 500.00 for a pair.

Considering the C1s response, it's a very workable sound so you can still attain the fatness you'd like. I've used them plenty of times and liked them.

My personal choice for OHs depends on genre but in general KSM137s win for me, every time.
